Patient Success Stories

One of the greatest joys that we experience is to hear the success stories of our patients. These are the stories of those who have combined the will to succeed and the help of our treatment centers to reach their goals to regain dignity and self-confidence. This is what we are all about.
"5 star - I owe my life to this place, the nurses are caring and my counselor is awesome and the receptionist there is awesome as well. They care about the people that go there, they don’t treat you like a patient, and they treat you like one of the family… I love those guys they are the best."

"Before coming to WCTC, my life was so uncertain and crazy. All I could ever feel was pain and hopelessness. I was constantly worried about finding pain medication to make it through each day. My mind was consumed in feeling better and better. I was very selfish & hated myself for it. Now that I am with WCTC, I feel better. I enjoy not having to search for stupid pain pills, and having a worried feeling everyday. The routine of being at WCTC has helped me very much. I feel like I do have more control in my life and that means a lot to me also. My family says I'm more like the old methan I was when I was using. My counselor Mike White, helps by keeping me in check and keeping me positive about my recovery.I enjoy our monthly sessions, and I feel like he truly cares about my recovery.I know how much it has helped me in the fact that I don't wake up worried in the morning anymore. I really feel that had I not came here when I did, I would have died...I have great respect for the entire staff at WCTC. They work hard, they truly care, and they want to help us. Thank you."

"I am a 51 year old waitress who has been addicted to opioids for 35 years. I had tried every kind of treatment from NA to Rehab. Methadone has allowed me to live a normal life for the first time in my adult life. In other words-I owe my life to methadone treatment. "

"I would like to start off by saying that without the clinic I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. This program has helped me get my life back on track. Also, it has given my relationship with my children back. Hearing my girls tell me they are proud of me on getting help from this program means a lot. It has also made me feel like at least there are people out there that want to help and that understand. They do a good job at that.
I applaud this clinic very much! I just wish more people would understand the good work they do to help people with problems. It would be hard to do this by yourself."

"I feel like I would have never seen my 3rd child if I hadn’t been on methadone. There are a lot more ups than downs. You’re not paying so much. There are a lot of people that will listen and help you get your life together. I feel like I’ve come a long way. I was walking death before I started. It’s turned my life around for the better…definitely."

"5 star - I have been recovering for 5 yrs now. I have only been to one other clinic in the areabut W.C.T.C. is by far the better of the 2 due to the awesome staff. The 2 nurses thatgive out the meds are kind and professional and they can dish out meds 5 times faster than 4 or 5 nurses at the other place. The counselors don’t lie to you and the prices are the lowest."

"I feel so much better since I’ve been coming here. I used to wake up every day wondering where I was going to get the next fix. If I didn’t have the money, I would find something in the house to get rid of- DVD player, TV…whatever was of value that I could get money for. But now I have this big relief off my chest. I don’t wake up wanting anymore. I have a better relationship with my family and kids. My husband and I don’t fight as much as before I started coming to the clinic. Life is good and I’m sure it will get even better."

"On March of 2000, I became a patient at Western Carolina. My life was in shambles. I couldn’t manage money because of my drug addiction and the quality of life at that point was very poor. When I started the clinic, my life started getting back in order and before I knew it-life was worth living again. My days weren’t constantly spent looking for something to get me through the day. Now, I am going back to school, raising my son (who I had while I was in treatment) and for the first time in a long time I can actually say I’m happy in life. Thanks to WCTC for everything!"

"I have been on opioid drugs for 28 years and on methadone for about 8 years. My whole life used to be all about drugs, hustling for money to buy drugs then starting all over again. Methadone has allowed me to have a life that is about so many different things. Now I am a mother, a friend, a wife, a daughter and a good citizen in the community. Methadone is not a miracle drug. It takes determination, a lot of counseling and the want to be clean for the methadone to work. If you have those three things methadone will help you.

For now I will stay on methadone, not because I am addicted to it (I’m not) or because I get high on methadone (I don’t) but because to me it’s like taking any other regulated medicine to keep me healthy in mind, body and I’m working on my soul. Thanks for listening and take the step to becoming clean."
